Description / विवरण | |
Description / विवरण | The fragmented block is a part of a decorative horizontal panel belonging to a freize of flying Vidyadharas (Flying Nymphs). On observation, the block has two left and right palms belonging to two flying nymphs. Through the carvings, one can figure out that they are holding two half blooming lotus having sturdy stems covering the length of the palms. The flowers are held securely in between the thumb, middle finger and the ring finger. Though the motif is heavily deteriorated, the intricate folds and creases of the palms are very prominent. When observed carefully, it is seen that the arms are emerging from underneath the freize. The right wrist is adorned with bangles (Kangana) and the left one is seen wearing a bracelet (Valaya)bearing the carvings of a full bloom flower. The upper arms are embellished with Keyura that has beade borders (Armlet), though heavily cracked, one can notice that the Vidyadharas were wearing intricate Kanthabhushana (necklaces). |
