Description / विवरण | |
Description / विवरण | This is a sculpture of Surya in sampadasthanaka (upright) posture standing on his chariot represented by a solitary horse. The pointed stele panel is undecorated. The deity is shown holding two celestial lotuses in both the hands which rise above his shoulders. He is shown wearing tall boots in his feet, a kavach (chest armour) in his upper body and a decorated girdle around his waist. He is adorned with Kiritamukuta and Kundal (circular earrings). The two attendants in both sides of the deity are unidentifiable but from the posture, they look like the two consorts of Surya namely Nikshumbha in the left and Rajni in the right. The pedestal is shown with several rathas or projections. |
