Description / विवरण | |
Description / विवरण | This mid-relief sculpture of Vishnu in sampadasthanaka (upright) posture. The pointed stele panel is undecorated. The deity is shown holding sankha (conch), chakra (wheel), padma (lotus) and gada (mace) in clockwise direction respectively in his four hands. The chakra and padma looks alike which indicate lack of sophistication in craftsmanship. Vishnu here is adorned with an ornamented kiratamukuta (conical headgear), a kanthabhusana (necklace), a vanamala (long garland of wild flowers), an upavita (sacred cord) and a decorated girdle around the waist. He is accompanied by the goddess Lakshmi who is holding a chamara (fly-whisk) and Saraswati who is playing the veena. |
