| Description / विवरण | The faces of the Jina and his two attendants have been destroyed. The figure sits in padmasana with the hands in dhyana mudra and is identified by the crescent lanchana incised on the central petal of the lotus seat. The shoulders are broad and rounded, there is a noticeable roll of flesh at the waist just below the navel, and the feet are marked by five-petaled flowers. On either side of the Jina are sensitively modeled male cauri-bearers, wearing short lower garments, and simple jewelry including necklace, double-stranded armlets and wristlets. The front projection of the pedestal contains a cakra-flanked by two crouching lions above which is a rather flat lotus with prominent corolla and a single row of petals drooping over the edge. The recesses at the sides carry a damaged Yaksi on the right, a seated Yaksa on the left, and below him are two devotees in a small panel. The throne has a plain tapering back and a lotus halo, with a plain center, a surrounding corolla, a row of lotus petals, a foliated lotus scroll, and a beaded edge. Above is a three-tiered parasol on which is a drum beaten by disembodied hands. From the sides issues a bunch of leaves, probably of the nagakesara tree. On either side are flying Vidyadharas framed by clouds. |
