| Description / विवरण | The God, in udicyavesa, holds full-blown lotuses with triple stalks in the upper hands, the lower hands being broken. He does not wear the avyanga nor does he carry a sword. Next to him, on either side, are his consorts, Rajni and Niksubha carrying cauris, Pingala and Dandi, and the two horse-faced Asvinikumaras. Midway on the pilasters of the back frame are kneeling Goddesses shooting arrows from bows, to be identified with Usa and Pratyusa. Above them are seated images probably representing the Adityas and on top are flying Vidyadharas holding a crown above the God s head. On the outer edge of the stele are the usual vyala and makara ornaments. Between the booted feet of the Sun God is the damaged figure of Mahasveta on either side of whom are seated devotees. At the base of the pedestal are two horses galloping sideways and Aruna, the charioteer. |
