| Description / विवरण | This is earliest terracotta figure and it represents a male torso in the round. The vibrant nature of the torso is significant for an understanding of the later terracotta production from Bengal, where this realistic manner of representation of the human body persisted simultaneously with a tradition of stylized representations sometimes made consciously by its creators. The find-spot of this terracotta piece i.e. Pandu Rajar Dhibi is one of the few Proto-historic sites of Bengal to have been excavated over a number of years. |
